Function of Beauty Quiz/survey — 17 questions, starting with your name for the bottle

Why it works

Function of Beauty's hair quiz is linked from its site menu, not from its ads. It opens on a cover: "Custom Hair Quiz. Give us two minutes of your time and we'll formulate a unique haircare regimen just for you." Then it asks for a first name before anything else. "We ask so we can personalize this experience (and custom bottle!) for you." The name appears on a bottle as you type it. Three sections follow, each with its own title card. First, the basics: hair type, thickness, scalp. Then treatments and styling: colour, bleach, brassiness, heat tools. Then goals: up to five from a list of fourteen, plus styling benefits and hold. A percent bar runs along the top.
