Why it works

Function of Beauty's paid ads land on "Shop By Hair Type", a where-to-buy page run by MikMak. It has a product photo, a location box that fills itself in, and buttons. The buttons depend on the ad. A Target campaign shows Target online and the nearest Target stores ("Rosslyn - 2.1miles"). An Amazon or Walmart campaign shows that retailer and nothing else. "All retailers" ads add a fourth button, "Buy from Function of Beauty", which drops the bottle into the brand's own cart. There is no email field and no question. The shopper leaves for the store without being asked anything.
