Why it works

A modal opens over the paywall on arrival: three gift boxes, "up to 75% off". All three boxes hold 75% (the values are in the markup), and the reveal says "Jackpot! You unlocked the highest discount". After "Claim my 75% off" the paywall reloads with a sticky "75% discount reserved for: 09:55" countdown and prices of $6.19, $11.99 and $23.99. The small print says the plan "auto-renews at the full price of $52 every 4 weeks". Every visitor gets the discount, so $52 is really the renewal price.
